Ever since Simon Cowell cleaned house on "The X Factor", all the media attention has focused on who'll occupy the vacant seats left by judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Everyone from Janet Jackson (declined) to Whitney Houston (deceased) and to Britney Spears (almost a done deal) have reportedly been considered by Cowell and his team. But no one has even discussed outgoing host Steve Jones' replacement. That's how much of a thankless job it is.

Just like the judging panel, the producers are looking for two people to take on hosting duties. Originally, Jones was to co-host with Scherzinger, but that all changed when Nicole was promoted to the panel when Cheryl Cole was unceremoniously ousted. With the auditions for the second season just around the corner, buzz surrounding the host position has finally began to surface. E! Online is reporting that a certain "Glee" star was approached for the job. Continue reading to find out.

It's none other than Darren Criss (Blaine). I could definitely see Darren pulling off the job with ease. Sadly, we'll never get to see it. Given Criss' hectic schedule which includes "Glee", working on Broadway in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" and an upcoming film project, his card is extremely full. E! Online cites their source as saying, "They were after him…but there's no way he could have done it with everything he has going on." Given the time commitment, Criss reportedly turned down the hosting gig.

With Darren now officially out of the running, I'm curious to know who Simon is eying to fill the slots. He previously stated he was looking for one male and one female to take on hosting duties. Do you have any suggestions? Share your thoughts below.
