Irving mother arrested after car crash kills two of her children, injures ...

An Irving mother faces intoxication manslaughter charges after a Saturday night car crash that killed two of her children and injured two other children.

Irving police say Crystal Suniga, 30, lost control of her car around 8 p.m. and crashed into two vehicles parked in a driveway in 1500 block of East Pioneer Drive, near Gilbert Elementary School. Her SUV landed in the front lawn of a house.

Suniga’s 10-year-old and 14-year-old sons died in the crash, police spokesman James McLellan said. A young girl and teenage boy were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Suniga’s blood alcohol level was 0.18 — more than twice the legal limit, according to police. She was charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of injury to a child.

She is at Parkland Memorial Hospital for minor injuries and will be booked into Dallas County Jail.
